COME AND SEE
Discover Jesus
-
Discover Jesus through an informal series of small group discussions. Over seven sessions, we will read and talk about the Gospel of Mark, one of the first century accounts of Jesus.
-
These sessions are open to anyone. They are designed for people who are not regular church attenders, people who have an interest in learning about Jesus, and people who are distant from or relatively new to the Christian faith. In other words, we aren't expecting a lot of background knowledge on your part, and we aren't expecting you to sing or pray or engage in similar worship practices.
-
Thursday evenings, beginning September 24, 2026.
-
We will meet once a week for seven weeks, the final session being held on Nov 5.
Meeting Format
-
Everyone is warmly invited to join us for dinner at 6pm. Children are welcome for the meal.
-
The program itself will begin at 6:45. You will be welcomed by one of our church's pastors, who will give a brief introductory talk about something from the Gospel of Mark.
-
The main event each evening will be small group discussion. We will break up into groups of perhaps 5–7 people, and we will discuss one particular passage from the Gospel of Mark. Your group leader will be asking questions that guide the group through the passage, asking about the text's meaning both in its original context and its implications for today.
-
We will finish by 8pm. Each week, at the end of the night we will give you a small card titled "Dig Deeper." This will provide prompts that will guide you in engaging on your own with another passage from the Gospel of Mark.
Meal and Childcare
-
If you can join us for dinner, it would help us to know in advance. RSVP through the person who invited you.
-
Childcare will be provided for children age 12 and under. Please let us know in advance if you wish to take advantage of this. Childcare providers will be parents and individuals from our church who regularly care for the children of church members at our regular Sunday service.
RSVP
-
If you plan to join us for dinner at 6 or if you plan to bring your children, it would help us to know that by Sept 20. Just let the person who invited you know.
-
If you aren't sure who invited you, you may RSVP to Stefan or Rachel.
Miscellaneous
-
These meetings will be held in our Fellowship Hall. When you arrive, go to the farther entrance (the smaller entryway, with a canvas awning).
-
There is no need to bring anything. You may bring a Bible if you like, but we will be providing booklets that contain the full text of the Gospel of Mark.
-
If you have any questions, email Stefan at smatzal@trinitysyr.org.
